Each recommendation starts as desk research, not a fake hands-on review. We compare the stated use case, fit considerations, cleaning friction, merchant availability, and visible tradeoffs before publication. Product profiles show whether the research is still an editorial draft or has been human-reviewed.

  • We separate research confidence from direct experience and label that clearly.
  • We score for real owner friction: fit, cleanup, durability, and return-window risk.
  • The total score is the arithmetic mean of the visible criteria, rounded to one decimal place.
  • We update pages when core facts, links, or merchant availability changes.

How scores work

  • Total 9.0-10: strong fit for a clear use-case with few obvious tradeoffs
  • Total 8.0-8.9: good recommendation with one or two meaningful compromises
  • Total below 8.0: worth considering only for a niche need or tighter budget
